Blog#5 Writing Progress-Jiawei Zhu

I have taken the 106 class almost for a month, during this time. I can feel the big difference between Chinese writing and English writing. In china, I often get high marks in writing section, as I usually use many typical and historic examples in my article. In Chinese teachers eyes, they think if I can use the examples it means I have a rich experience in literature. It’s also noticeable to point out that Chinese teachers don’t care whether you cited the resources In your article. In some way, It can make students more freely to search the information. However, I am now doing writing in a second language, it can be more complex than writing in first language. I need to concern the plagiarism when I am writing at any time. However, I believe practice make perfect and I will get used to the English writing. I think I am good at building the article structure and it can make my article more logic, while I am weak in searching the information, sometimes, I also confused how to cite the resources. Through the practice, I can also differentiate the descriptive verbs and informative verbs and can use them correctly.

I think my digital story script is attractive as it reveals the Chinese history, I can draw many foreigners attentions. The main strategy I use in my article is cultural examples, the Great Wall. Also I add an interesting story beside it. My story still have many places can be improved, like the introduction of the Great Wall is not perfect. More details should be added to tell the listener.
