Culture usually has influence on plagiarism. In some countries, people have different thoughts of defining plagiarism, so people commit plagiarism sometimes because of the difference of culture. Another influence is because of globalization, with more people come to USA for higher education, the meaning of plagiarism is changing as well. In higher education system of China, scientific research has been taken to a level that has many folks concern. Once I saw Chinese student writing their paper in Chinese university, they don’t really concern the problem about plagiarism, although they also use citation and reference list, but the rules are different from America. From the view of American higher education, their paper can be considered as plagiarized others work.

There are lots of methods to prevent plagiarism. Student usually use Internet to do plagiarism, we can also use Internet to fight plagiarism. Turnintin program is very popular among universities, it compare the essay and the sources on the Internet to find plagiarism. Google Book Search is also a good weapon to fight plagiarism. Unlike Turnitin, Google Book Search is for free. My high school used to use Turnitin program, results showed that very few students plagiarized, teacher said Turnitin is very helpful.
