When I was in China, the most unwilling work I thought were writing assignments. I hated writing. Being a child about 10 years old, I took a writing tutorial in weekends. And everything I did in the class is to recite what the tutor said about a topic and then recollect it on the paper. It was so boring. And my Chinese classes in primary school and middle school are exactly the same as the tutorial I took. And the only reason we wrote is to get a grade in test. We were not allowed, or the possible low grade didn’t allow us to write our really thought. For example, when came the topic related the Party, I can only praise it. Any denial would cause me to get a low grade directly though sometimes the teacher agree with the denial of some aspects.
In addition to the constricted writing freedom, we were required and obligated to use rhetorics. Though this requirement is much rational than the constricted freedom, the teacher’s inclination make the rule kind mawkish. Teacher prefer our quotation and metaphor made by literature master. This forced us to recite classical poems and sentences of masterpieces and use it in our writing.
I didn’t realize the importance of article structure until staring learn English writing. Different from Chines writing, a fixed and clear structure is preferred by English writing. Moreover, the main idea is more important. I have more space to express my own idea. For instance, in my digital story, I can mention bribe the police without hesitation.
In our class, I learnt the usage of the descriptive words and informative word. The strength concept of appreciate word usage helps me my article more academic and precise. The more normative article structure helps me to present my idea.
In the process of editing my digital story. I deleted a lot of redundant and unnecessary sentences. And tried my best to make the passage more terse. Made the article’s main idea more clear. However, with the limited length of the article, I cannot present the whole trip and the entire beauty of Tibet. I have to say this is a pity. But I would record my trip with a much longer and informative passage in the soon future.
