Blog #7(hopefully the last one lol)--Yakun

The video I watched on digitalstory.osu.edu is "The Trail", made by Cindy Gray. This video explores the word "trail" from a deeper and meaningful aspect. The author illustrates that the trail we go through when we go hiking can be viewed as the trail in our life. She uses her hiking experience to describe the real trail in the nature at the beginning. The leaves, woods and the nature sound in the forest all along the trail purify our soul, as she said. Then she exemplifies her trip and getting lost on the trail which indicates the happening of difficulties and hardship on our way. Another significant idea she demonstrates is sharing the trail—sharing the time, the joy, with different people in different time period on our way, so that we won’t be alone on our trail anytime but we have to face the leaving and coming of different trail sharers.

This digital story is just perfect on every aspect. The purpose and the meaning are very deep since she uses the thing that comes from our daily life but gives it a special meaning and her thought of life in it. Also, her work is great at the picture choosing and editing portion. I love those pictures which were taken from the ground to view the tree and leaves on the ground, and the leaves floating in the water. The transitions of the pictures are very professional and they exactly match every turning point in her story. Her voice is peace which fits the mood of this story perfectly, and she speaks clearly with good pace. Last but not the least, her story is well-written and has proper details such as her feeling of the trip, others’ help to get her out of the missing trail, and her equine. If I have to point out some disadvantage of this digital story, it would be the tripping scene video piece is too long and actually not a joy for eyes since it made me feel dizzy. Anyway, this is a successful digital story telling example.
