The infringement of plagiarism is so severe among international students because they have to bear the pressure from family, encounter the difficulties of learning a secondary language, and handle the gaps between different cultures. Although some people argue that these are all excuses for the misconduct, as an international student, I can understand this dilemma they are in. The students go far away from homeland for higher education and have to study in a secondary language, which will put them into a situation of encountering numerous obstacles both in life and study. In the meanwhile, if they feel the pressure from family, it is possible of them to commit plagiarism to get higher scores. Moreover, the American citation method is not worldwide used, so in some other country like China students may not able to fully comprehend the concept of plagiarism means in America and do it even without conscious. In conclusion, the rampant spread of plagiarism is a coherence of reasons, so we cannot easily judge that plagiarism is always on purpose.

As the plagiarism is rampant throughout college, the inventions of online software and website emerge at the right time. Some people hold the opinion that these devices are just a waste of money and show the distrust between educators and students, but I consider these devices as an effective means of prohibiting plagiarism. Today’s technology is improving so rapidly, and it actually contributes to a prohibition of plagiarism. The advanced technology, like Turnition, has successfully alleviated the severity of plagiarism and has a function of warning students at the same time. Furthermore, by viewing and analyzing the specific statistics reports from these devices, educators will have a more comprehensive understanding of the plagiarism done by students and can take productive actions to stop the plagiarism. Therefore, the academic misconduct will be prevented and solved gradually as the educators know students’ intention of doing it.
