When I was in high school, my Chinese teacher once had a long discussion with me. She said I was not good at exam writing; however I did a good job in writing fiction. She even encouraged me to write a novel after I entered university. I highly agree with her because I always find myself trapped and stuck while writing academic essays. When it comes to my own story, my mind flows well. Concerning summarizing skills, paraphrasing is once an obstacle for me; especially long sentences combine of several clauses. However, after several practices, it is much easier. Also, it is remarkable that I improved my ability of reporting verbs a lot in this class. Currently, I find it hard to correct my own sentences, like some grammar points and syntax.
My digital story talks about my summer voyage to Japan. I mainly introduce three aspects of Japanese culture and its connection to Chinese culture. I used examples based on my own experiences and readings related to culture. The story as a whole is satisfying; however, if the word limit is up to 700 words, I may add another interesting fact which will make it more engaging.
