Blog#4 Plagiarism study-Zhu Jiawei

The question four considers using other people’s idea which came out at a discussion group can be see as plagiarism in some situations. However, the purpose of the discussion group is going to share the idea and before writing down the idea, it is not the intellectual property, in this case, it can’t lead to plagiarism. In order to avoid plagiarism completely, the response suggests students cite ideas as “personal communication”. The question six examines the right for teacher to use student’s course work for other usages. Teacher use students’ work for other purpose can be seem as plagiarism. The response emphasizes that student’s work is belong to students, it can be absolutely sensitive if teacher use students’ work without their permission.

From the tutorial, I learned that plagiarism is a serious issue in the study, I need to pay attention to details and also be aware the seriousness of misconducts. A good communication between students and teachers can also help students out of some unnecessary troubles. The situation like self-cheating and personal communication can always happen when I am lazy to do the work. Thus, to be an independent and collaborative person will really make sense in the later career.
