This picture represents my life at Ohio State University.(http://image.baidu.com/ ) I used to study in a Chinese university, and it is known to us all that studying abroad is both exciting and challenging. Actually, I regard my life in America as a starting point of my whole life. I want to study something really useful here. And I spend much time in library every day. In terms of IP usage rules, I gave credit to the picture at the end of my digital story. The purpose of using the picture is educational rather than commercial. And widespread of distribution is only within the class. I think using pictures in digital story is very different from citations in essay writing. The former only requires URL link while citation is absolutely complex work. You have to first read the articles you want to cite carefully, and then quote or paraphrase. Following the essay, you need to give a detailed reference list. So citation is time-consuming.
I think the digital storytelling assignment is really helpful. I had few understanding of IP usage and technology before. But now I have gained a systemic view of IP. Besides I also learned how to make videos on computer, which is interesting. My argument essay and DST both reflect cultural differences between China and US. The digital story focuses on different styles of university life in the two countries and the essay introduces problems related to plagiarism.
