I downloaded this picture from image.google.com. It illustrates a popular activity, Cherry blossom viewing, where family hang out together and enjoy a beautiful spring afternoon together. It suits the theme of “Harmony” quite well; therefore I used it to demonstrate Prince Shotoku’s first constitution which is hard to be explained only by words. Moreover, it put emphasis on the modern society which inherited the spirit. Concerning the IP usage, I did not alter or change the photo, and use it for non-commercial purpose. In academic writing, paraphrasing is important, because the amount of direct citation is strictly limited, or it will be consider as plagiarism. However, in digital stories, it against the Fair use guideline if part of the origin is changed. The common thing is that both academic writing and digital stories need a reference in the end.

The process of making a digital movie practiced me a lot. Collecting excellent pictures on the internet is time-consuming; bringing them together with cohesion needs work. Recording script in a whisper room is also exciting. Through all these progress, I realized that protecting intellectual property is vital. Everyone’s work needs effort and time, if someone uses my video without giving credit to me, I must be annoying. Although intellectual property in china are not given much attention as it is in United States, it is a hot issues nowadays and I believe people will realize that respecting each other’s work is a basic rule.
