Blog#8 Muyao Chen

In my digital story, I talked about my bad sense of direction. I am easy to lose my way in OSU because the school is so big and full of buildings. So I download this map from OSU’s website (osu.edu) to show my audience how my school looks like. You can see the school is so big, the roads look like spider webs which connect buildings. This picture make my description vivid and persuasive because audience will feel it is reasonable that I have problem to find my classrooms. The source is internet, according to the IP usage rules, I cited the URL at the end of my digital story and I use this story just to enhance my story-telling instead of making profit. The similarity of citation in my writing and digital story is I need to show the URL of the sources and cannot making money from it, but I do not need to paraphrase in my digital story since what I cite is pictures not words.

Doing the digital story assignment is really helpful in bringing you a deeper understanding of intellectual property usage and technology. I learnt that I am responsible to put the URL of the sources to avoid committing plagiarism. Before I making this work, I have no idea about what should I do. But now, I know how to use iMove! This skill will be extremely useful in my later life, I am glad I have grab it. Putting pictures together is a process needs a lot of time and patience. Sorting them by order, adjusting their appearing time to connect them with my words accurately took me a lot of time. Finding source is easy, I just need to get the pictures which fit my description. Consideration of culture is important in both writing and digital story. I need to confirm who are my audience, choosing the topic, words, sources they think is interesting and they can understand.
