I use this picture, because this picture shows an athlete taking a match for javelin. My digital story discuss about my ten years life of javelin. But I don’t have much more pictures when I was training. People put this photo on the website, everyone can read it. About IP, I think I can download this picture. But I need to indicate the picture where is coming from. I am not selling my digital story and not making money, moreover this is not a business. Talking with IP, Putting picture in my story and citing sources in my article are the same. Both this two ways just want to add some. Citing pictures is more powerful to convince people than applying words. Using picture will give people a concrete imagine. For example if I want to explain what the javelin looks like, simply describe the javelin is difficult for reader to imagine, on the contrary, a picture will easily for reader to know about all the detail of javelin. Also adding picture will make the paper more attractive, for example, according to research, 78% of readers rank pictures as first place in evaluating whether the book is attractive.
As far as I concern, it is important to express independent ideas in an essay, as well quoting other’s options. In that way, I not only address the main points of the essay but also enable the essay to look divisive that attract more readers. Due to the culture difference and different education system, unlike American students, Chinese students do not aware the severe consequence of plagiarism. No one told children how to quote other people’s ideas without infringement of a patent, also there is old saying in China that there are millions of papers but it is up to whether you are capable of copying of it. There are no rules in formally quoting other’s idea in Academic paper, though it has, there are no regulars in punishing students who plagiarism. As consequence, students just Google what they need and put them in the their own papers. With teachers, they do not want to spare much time to elaborately go through students’ paper. At end student regard finishing homework, unfortunely not improving their writing skills, as the most important thin, teachers’ lazy and ignorance greatly enhance the horrible problems in China. I have been to America for almost 3 months, at the beginning of the quarter; the instructor put a great emphasis on the plagiarism, which make clear about the terrible result of plagiarism. For example, the instructor let us read other’s paper and teach us how to correctly cite other’s ideas hand by hand. In this strict education, it is possible to change my wrong ideas about writing an academic paper.
