Blog #2, Some impressive experience in columbus from SHENG LU
First of all, the most impressive thing I ever met in Columbus is the hospitality of people here. Everybody here will feel free to talk with somebody else even though they are not familiar with each other, however people in China hardly communicate with strange people in public. Just like a few weeks ago, while pacing on N High Street to find a place to eat, a old man who is walking the dog coming by and said "good morning, gentleman", all of sudden, I was so confused who he was talking to that don't even know how to respond. After being noticed by my friends, a feeling of happiness came up in mind. Indeed, people don't have to be individual or separate apart from others.
Additionally, I was stuned by the highly strong feel of social responsibility which people have nearly in every aspect in everywhere especially near campus. For example, the cross on the N High St and W Lane Ave is always busy and full of vehicles waiting for crossing the road, and to my surprise, not like what some chinese impatient drivers did, every driver here hardly honk the horn to urge others not even pedestrians, even when they were supposed to cross which presents very harmony social atmosphere without panicking others.
What's more, as a international student coming from china, I was unavoidably panic before coming to Columbus, but during the first month here, I gradually realize that it is totally unnecessary because I can not only get help from every people around me once I had trouble, but also it feels so great to be involved in this huge multicultural campus with a lot of fun, just like the splendid RPAC, and the fruitful resource we could get, as well as the delicious food around campus.
To be honest, I could feel very hornered to get the chance to study here and advocate my enthusiasm to this wonderful university.

Yupeng's Self-introduction
Hey everyone! My name is Yupeng Yang, a transfer student in Food Science major. Glad to introduce myself on this blog.
I was born in Tianjin and I lived there with my parents until I went to college. There are four members in my family. Besides my parents and me, it’s a dog called Yangyang. We name him Yang, which means sheep in Chinese, not after my family name, because he just likes a little sheep with curly hair when he has shower. He is a cute boy, and I love him so much. My parents both export garments to US and Canada. They go abroad frequently, they know the life in US and want me to study here.
When graduated from high school, I was thinking about what I was really interested in. The result comes out that there is nothing but eating. So I search on the Internet for majors related to food, nutrition or something like that, then I found
“Food Quality and Safety” and “Food Science and Engeneering”. Because not good at engeneering, I pick up the former. That is my previous major in China Agriculture University. In the third year study, learnt more professional courses, considering study aboad, I realized I want to learn more about the processing and the science, then I change my major to Food science.
I have been here for three weeks. This is not the first time I have been to US. The last time, I joined a summer camp of high school. It was a one-month travel. We took some ESL courses in Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in the first two weeks. Then we visited some celebrated universities, like Harvard, Yale, MIT and so on. The universities in America impress me deeply, and that’s why I decide to transfer finally. The most exciting part is in the following two weeks. We visited many famous tourist attractions. Universal Studio, Disney, Grand Canyon, etc, I can’t list all the places I went, but I still remember the amazing screen in San Diego with royal blue sea. I vow to go there again someday.
I love the fresh air here, the kind people here, the beautiful campus here. I hope I could have a wonderful experience these two years in Columbus.
Intro.
My name is Soochan Choi. I am from South Corea. I commonly use 'Corea' instead of 'Korea' because I think 'Corea' is original name which is changed by Japan when they colonized my country.Introduction from Shiyu Guo
Hello everyone!I am Guo Shiyu. My major is accounting and I will choose Japanese as my minor. I am also a MMC scholar. In the last 18 years, I lived in Shenyang, an advanced industrial city, which is located in the Northeast of China. After a 15 hours voyage, I finally arrived in Columbus, where I will begin my future study.
I come from a happy three people family. My father is a man of accuracy and strict method. Furthermore, he does everything with patience. His attitude has contributed to the formation of my careful personality. Although my dad is such a serious man, my mom is an optimist woman. She is the CFO of a Korean company and has a strong interest in business. Under her influence, I choose accounting as my major. Even though my parents’ personalities are so different, they can understand each other and communicate very well.
I love appreciating paintings and drawing. Paintings make my life more colorful and meaningful. A masterpiece can make me think a lot. When I saw the Guernica of Picasso, I could imagine the suffering of the people under the fascism and gratitude for my life; when I saw the Water lilies of Monet, I could almost feel the peace and beauty and be thank to the generosity of nature; when I saw the Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe of Vincent Willem Van Gogh, I could touch his inner heart and feel his depression. My own drawing is another kind of enjoyment. Placing myself at a comfortable position, I always feel calm and relaxed when I spread my feeling over a piece of empty white paper with a colorful black pencil.
When I was in high school, I read a finance book about the Rothschild Family. It makes me curious about how can they get so much money and have such influence on the world. As a result, I search business news and continue read business points of Lang Xianping’s. Finally, with the encouragement of my parents, I choose accounting as my major and goal for working in some Investment Companies like Morgan Stanley. In the future, I want to use my knowledge and experiences as a bridge to connect the economy communication between American and China.

#1 Blog, Introduction from SHENG LU
Having come to Columbus for almost a month, I found I'm a person not really good at communicating with people while american keeps talking with friends sometimes unfamiliar people without being individual in public, to which I attribute cultural difference. In spite of that, I really wish to become friends with you people, so feel free to contact me whatever you want to talk about.
Technically speaking, I should be a sophomore student in OSU, thanks to those transfer stuff, majored in Electrical & Computer Engineering because of two simple reasons. Firstly, it is pretty cool to be called "engineer". Second, I love technology. Unfortunately, in aspect of personal hobby, I don't perform very well, since I spend too much time on playing basketball and reading articles regarding those cutting-edge fancy electronic products, from my stand of point, I am willing to share if you like it as well.
I'm from a chinese-typical family consisting of my dad, my mom, and me. Though not too many things worthy of being mentioned about my parents, the one thing I'm sure is that they love me and trust me just like your parents did to you. So, don't let them down anyway and take care of yourself.
Talking about Mr. Benson, he is very trustful person through my observation by far, because he is always being happy to share everything beautiful in his life rather than keeping asking us to do this, do that, and patient with everything whereas not everybody like this class, or, in other words, expect more for themselves.
Anyway, good to see you guys.
Introduction of Zheng Chen
It's glad to meet you guys here!
blog No.1 Yisong-introducton
I'm the creator of "decipher band" in high school , and I play as a drummer in the band. I enjoy the time when my friends and I josh with each other. Every number in "decipher band" seeks for perfection in addition we are full of passion for music. They are friends indeed it goes without saying. we partook our happiness and sadness, and it makes me warm when I feel homesick.
I think that I have the best parents in the world , I'm proud of them .An interesting example is that I often talk about my girlfriend with them which is abnormal in most of Chinese family. I still remember that when i was broken with my first girlfriend my father said"it is not a bad thing for you because you can have more changes to find the person you fit you best." My father is understanding.Another person in my family is my mother she is a work-woman so she is strict with herself and her son, but I'm lucky because my mother doesn't keep a strict hand over my study ,and what she focus on is the moral character.I love my parents so much.
I was appreciate that I can share my story with you guys.
Jiawei's Story

Introduction of Muyao Chen
Yakun's Story

This is my second time to be in the USA, and today is the 19th day for being here. What's more, tomorrow is the 3-year anniversary for me and my boyfriend. So, what is my story for everyone to share?
My name is Yakun Li, a 20-year-old Beijing girl. I've studied in Beijing Jiaotong University for Mechanical Engineering for two years and then transfered here. What I said, say and will say a thousand times is that OSU is really an amazing university. I love everything here, especially all kinds of traditions and the squirrels.
You may wonder why I chose to transfer and why I would like to pursue my professional career in Mechanical Engineering as a girl. I would say, first of all, different experience really means a lot to me. Basically, I have passion to experience everything new. So being a transfer student makes me get both the higher education experience in a Chinese university as well as in an American university, which is pretty cool. Then, as far as my major, I love science and designing stuffs by myself when I was in high school. Actually, I ran into my boyfriend when we made robots together in the robot team of our high school. That experience really taught me a lot and led me to make the decision for majoring in ME. Although it can be kind of hard for a female, I believe I can do it, and do it well. "Yes, I can!"
There are some more things I would like to share. I didn't raise any dogs or cats but I love pets so much; I'm not good at any sports, but I love the feeling of sweating; I can't do everything well at the same time, but I'm a deadly perfectionism who try hard to handle everything perfectly. I was born and grew on a delta and my parents are both advanced engineers. Somebody said that living by sea would shape people a brave, straightforward and sensitive personality. I totally agree.
Finally, I want to say that I tried to shorten this blog but it still turned out to be a little bit long. Hopefully you will enjoy my story and, Go Bucks!

My name is Eric Benson. I am the lecturer for this section of EDU T&L 106. I have taught this class every quarter for the last several years and I like the content which is focused on differences in writing across cultures as well as the digital story project we will work on throughout the quarter. I have taught in the composition program since AU 2003 and have also taught in the Spoken English program and 1 quarter in ALP.
I got my start teaching in China. I taught over a summer in Beijing and for 1 year in Dalian (University of Technology) from 2002-2003. When I returned to the US, I took this position as a lecturer at OSU and pursued my MA in TESOL (the degree for English teachers of speakers of other languages). I can say that I enjoy teaching and traveling to various places and learning about other cultures. I have also visited Hong Kong and Peru and spent a vacation with my family this past June on a cruise to the Caribbean and Mexico.
My family consists of my wife(a Korean-born American). We met here in our church in Columbus. She speaks perfect English as she came here when she was 10. I am blessed with two sons, Joe and Dan. Joe just graduated this past June and is a freshman here. My wife and I have enjoyed attending their high school extra-curricular activities, including cross-country running and band and look forward to seeing them continue to develop in college.
Our family is a cross-cultural one but we use English primarily, though we have all studied and learned some conversational Chinese and Korean. I also enjoy Jazz music and play the trumpet and some guitar. I enjoy exercising and watching the Buckeyes in the stadium and on TV. In the future, I hope to further my training and career as a teacher although I am still deciding on the area. We never stop learning and growing.
